A Windy Day in the City

Another opportunity to visit San Francisco came up, so soon after the last, and since I didn't get to go to Molinari's Delicatessen (it's closed on Sundays), I took Jenn up on the offer.  Sister Meg came with us and we drove straight to Stockton in North Beach.

Jenn & Meg

Liguria Bakery only sells focaccia.  The plain, olive, garlic and rosemary & garlic are my favorites.  Liguria is also situated diagonally across the street from Washington Square Park.

The center of Washington Square Park
Saints Peter and Paul Church, across from the park.

I have yet to go to Naia for gelato, it seems that I'm always too full from eating at a North Beach restaurant to go there for dessert.

No World Cup madness yet at Pantarei / Jenn at Hotel Boheme, one of the many historically beatnik sites in North Beach
A stop at Stella Bakery for two kinds of Baci and some chocolate cookies with frosting and sprinkles.  Next time, more Baci and a sample of their cannoli.

A stop at Molinari for Salami Milanese (we call it Genoa Salami here), a bottle of Prosecco, a box of Pomi marinara and a hunk of Grana Padano cheese.

Off to Golden Gate Park for a visit to the Japanese Tea Gardens

Golden Gate Park

The Japanese Tea Gardens

Stopping for tea and Japanese crackers and discovering that this whole time I liked participating in competitive sports--how could I not realize?

On the way to see how much our next visit to the de Young will cost...

Outside the de Young Museum

Just inside the "friend gates" to the Botanical Gardens...
This squirrel was real cute, but we were pretty convinced it wanted to kill Megan, so we had to leave.

Next time, we'll be visiting both the de Young and the Botanical Gardens.
