Meriker

Dear Dan,

I am sorry that I have been so irresponsible with my blog.  If I had known you were reading it (or anyone was reading it, for that matter), I would have made a greater effort to provide you with entertaining glimpses of my life.  Of course, they would have been bold-faced lies because my life is boring, but most entertainment has some falseness to it, at least in the U.S., right?

Have you ever noticed that movies based on history out of Hollywood seem to come out scrambled a bit?  They tell us that they have to change some things to make it more palatable for Americans.  Then people like you and I go watch movies made in other countries (most notably the U.K.) and realize that everyone else pretty much sticks to the story they still manage to make these movies entertaining, smart...so basically Hollywood thinks that Americans are stupid.  Is it any wonder that people in other countries do, as well?  I have become rather biased for programming out of the U.K., actually.  I'd rather watch Midsomer Murders (called "Inspettore Barnaby" in Italy because they love him so much) than any of the crap we have on regular TV (my brother and I were just noting that a new show, The Gates, actually manages to make the preternatural utterly boring).  And I find so many of the movies coming out here disappointing.  We're high on action, low on creativity.  Bummer.

Um...well, Dan, what can I tell ya?

I had a moment the other night where I just had to listen to The Darkness at work.  Then I realized I needed to buy more cock rock, because my job is such a ridiculous place and I cannot think of anything better for a soundtrack.  Aerosmith, Queen, AC/DC, Rolling Stones...I need more.  This is reminding me of when I used to fall asleep listening to Appetite for Destruction by Guns N Roses.  Only a teenager could manage to sleep through that kind of noise.  Is it weird that I'm downloading that while I'm on AmazonUK ordering a Mansfield TYA album?  Variety is the spice of life, Dan.  Or something.

Right, enough about how my life lacks rock (the other thing, as well).  I have to go make dinner and face yet another horrifying shift of ((gasp)) training.  It's funny, I love training, I just don't like people.  It does tend to complicate things.

Are you here yet?
