Dear Jason,
I don't understand why it is so hard to find good Chinese food around here. I love Great Wall on College in Berkeley - you remember, the place with the fake chicken, fake meat and real seafood (those zany 7th Day Adventists)? That was one of my haunts when I lived in Oakland and especially when I worked in Berkeley. I hadn't been there in years, but decided that I needed to get out to the other side of the tunnel and recall some of the things I once loved. Jess and I went shopping in Emeryville first, for frothy, smelly bath products. Then I made her go to Great Wall with me and I ordered the same thing I used to order: fried wontons, cashew (fake) chicken and rice. These three things, added together in a pan with a touch of oil and some soy sauce, are the best leftovers ever. I can hardly wait for tomorrow, when I can reheat them and enjoy them all over again.
I was also invited to see Swan Lake at the San Francisco Ballet tomorrow. I haven't been to the ballet anywhere in years. It's turning into a very good week.
However, I'm exhausted and I've already written you a letter today, so I'm going to watch some TV and try not to fall asleep any time soon while I get sucked into my fabulous red couch.
Jae
